ADX-096 is a tissue-targeted complement inhibitor being developed by Q32 Bio. It is a recombinant fusion protein comprising a monoclonal antibody fragment specific for C3d fused to the complement regulatory protein CR1 (Complement Receptor 1). The C3d-binding component targets the drug to sites of active complement deposition in tissues, while the CR1 component locally inhibits the complement cascade by acting on C3 and C5 convertases. This localized approach is designed to provide potent therapeutic activity at the site of disease while minimizing the risks associated with systemic complement blockade. Preclinical data support its potential use in ophthalmologic indications and a variety of other complement-mediated inflammatory conditions.
