ADX106772 is an experimental small molecule positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 2 (mGlu2). Developed by Addex Therapeutics, the compound is designed to reduce excessive glutamate release in brain regions associated with addiction. Preclinical studies conducted in collaboration with The Scripps Research Institute have demonstrated that ADX106772 selectively attenuates oxycodone self-administration and cue-induced reinstatement of drug-seeking behavior in animal models of opioid use disorder (OUD), without disrupting natural reward pathways. It is currently classified as a historical research or tool compound.
