Overview

ADX415 is a small molecule drug developed as a centrally acting, selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It was designed to modulate the adrenergic system and treat conditions associated with adrenergic dysregulation, primarily essential hypertension and hot flashes. The compound originated from Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals and was further developed by Addrenex Pharmaceuticals, with commercial rights granted to Sciele Pharma (a Shionogi company). ADX415 acts by stimulating alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the central nervous system, leading to reduced sympathetic outflow and lowering of blood pressure. Clinical development reached Phase 2 for hypertension and hot flashes but has since been discontinued[3][4][5].
