Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Adzenys ER is a once-daily, extended-release liquid formulation of mixed amphetamine salts developed by Neos Therapeutics for the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older.[7][9] It uses Neos’ extended-release technology to provide a stable oral suspension of amphetamine that does not require refrigeration and is designed to deliver prolonged stimulant exposure over the day, enabling once-daily dosing similar in pharmacologic effect to other amphetamine-based ADHD therapies.[7] As a central nervous system stimulant, Adzenys ER increases synaptic concentrations of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain by promoting their release and blocking reuptake, thereby improving attention and reducing hyperactivity and impulsivity in individuals with ADHD.[9]
