Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AE002 is a small molecule ophthalmic solution being developed by ActualEyes for the treatment of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD). Currently in the preclinical development stage, AE002 is designed to prevent the progression of FECD through a mechanism of action that is distinct from the company's lead candidate, AE001 (sirolimus). The therapy originated from research at Doshisha University aimed at elucidating the pathophysiology of corneal endothelial diseases and screening for effective drug candidates. It is intended for topical administration as eye drops.
