Overview
AEC-rIL2 is a recombinant human interleukin-2 (rhIL-2) product developed by Pharos Vaccine (formerly Pharos Biologicals). It utilizes the company's proprietary AEC (Adjuvant for Enhanced Cell-mediated immunity) technology, which is designed to enhance the stability and immunogenicity of recombinant proteins. AEC-rIL2 acts as an agonist of the interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R), promoting the proliferation and activation of effector T-cells and natural killer (NK) cells, which are essential for anti-tumor immunity. The drug is primarily developed as an adjuvant to be used in conjunction with Pharos's dendritic cell therapies, such as AMI-DC, or as a standalone cytokine therapy for the treatment of various solid tumors. Clinical development has focused on its role in enhancing the anti-tumor immune response in patients with advanced malignancies.
