Overview

AELIX-002 is a therapeutic HIV vaccine regimen developed by Aelix Therapeutics. It is based on the HTI (HIVACAT T-cell immunogen), a synthetic antigen designed to elicit T-cell immune responses against highly conserved regions of the HIV-1 genome. These regions are associated with natural viral control in individuals who maintain low viral loads without medication (elite controllers). The vaccine is administered using a heterologous prime-boost strategy involving three distinct delivery platforms: a DNA plasmid vector (DNA.HTI), a Modified Vaccinia Ankara viral vector (MVA.HTI), and a Chimpanzee Adenovirus vector (ChAdOx1.HTI). The regimen is intended to enable people living with HIV to maintain viral suppression during analytical treatment interruption (ATI) from antiretroviral therapy.
