Overview

AER005 is a monoclonal antibody discovered by Julie Overbaugh at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and developed by Aerium Therapeutics. It targets a novel, highly conserved region of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein outside the receptor-binding domain (RBD), providing broad neutralizing activity against previous and circulating variants. The antibody has been modified for extended half-life and potent activity, positioning it for potential inclusion in combination products like AER800 (AER003 + AER004) to enhance protection against viral evolution, particularly for immunocompromised patients.[1][7]
