Overview

Aeriotemcel (REGEND001) is an autologous lung progenitor cell therapy consisting of bronchial basal cells (expressing KRT5 and P63 markers) harvested from the patient's own airway epithelium via bronchoscopic brushing. Developed by Regend Therapeutics in collaboration with Ruijin Hospital, the therapy involves ex vivo isolation, purification, and expansion of these progenitor cells, which are then reintroduced into the patient's lungs via bronchoscopic infusion. Aeriotemcel is designed to repair and regenerate damaged alveolar structures, restore pulmonary gas exchange function, and re-establish the epithelial barrier in chronic structural lung diseases. It is currently in Phase III clinical development for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and is also being evaluated for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), interstitial lung disease (ILD), and bronchiectasis.
