AeriSeal

AeriSeal is a bronchoscopically delivered foam lung sealant system designed to achieve lung volume reduction or closure of collateral ventilation in patients with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. The system instills a polymerizing foam into peripheral airways and alveoli, where it acts as a tissue glue to occlude target regions or fissure gaps, collapse diseased lung segments, and reduce hyperinflation, thereby improving respiratory mechanics, lung function, and symptoms in patients who are poor candidates for surgical lung volume reduction or who have collateral ventilation that precludes valve-only therapy.[1][2][4][5][8]
