Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aerva lanata decoction is a traditional Ayurvedic preparation derived from the aerial parts of the *Aerva lanata* plant. It is being investigated for its neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, particularly in the context of Parkinson's disease. In preclinical Drosophila models of Parkinson's disease, the decoction has demonstrated the ability to alleviate neuroinflammation, reduce oxidative stress (by lowering hydroperoxides and elevating glutathione levels), and restore cholinesterase activity, thereby normalizing locomotor and crawling dysfunction induced by toxins like rotenone.
