Overview

AEX-3 is a small molecule orexin receptor 2 (OX2R) agonist being developed by Aexon Labs for the treatment of Narcolepsy Type 1 (NT1). Narcolepsy Type 1 is a chronic neurological disorder caused by the loss of orexin-producing neurons in the hypothalamus, resulting in symptoms such as excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. AEX-3 is designed to mimic the action of endogenous orexin at the OX2R, thereby restoring wakefulness-promoting signaling and stabilizing sleep-wake cycles. As of the latest pipeline updates, the compound is in the lead generation stage of preclinical development.
