Overview

AEX-5 is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Aexon Labs for the treatment of neuroinflammation and various neurological disorders. It utilizes a multi-target mechanism of action, acting as a Cathepsin H (CTSH) inhibitor, an Orexin receptor 1 (OX1R) agonist, and a Dopamine transporter (DAT) reuptake inhibitor. This combination is designed to modulate neuroinflammatory pathways and neuronal processes to address CNS pathologies. As of early 2024, the compound is in the lead generation stage of preclinical development.
