Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AF102 is a code name for flurbiprofen axetil, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a prodrug of flurbiprofen, developed by PUMC Pharmaceutical for pain management. Formulated as a lipid microsphere emulsion for intravenous injection, it is designed to target inflamed tissues and minimize the vascular irritation typically associated with NSAID injections. Its mechanism of action involves the non-selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, which prevents the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins, the primary mediators of pain, fever, and inflammation. AF102 is primarily indicated for the management of moderate to severe pain, including postoperative pain and cancer-related pain.
