Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Afecox S is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet containing the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) aceclofenac, the analgesic and antipyretic paracetamol (acetaminophen), and the proteolytic enzyme serratiopeptidase. Developed and marketed by Apostle Remedies, it is indicated for the relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal and joint disorders, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, muscle strains, and post-operative recovery. Aceclofenac and paracetamol work synergistically to alleviate pain and reduce fever by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby decreasing prostaglandin synthesis. Serratiopeptidase, a proteolytic enzyme, helps reduce edema and inflammation by breaking down abnormal proteins, such as fibrin, at the site of injury or inflammation.
