Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AFF 1 is a short peptide vaccine developed using AFFITOPE® technology, designed as an immunotherapeutic approach for neurodegenerative disorders, particularly synucleinopathies like Parkinson's disease and Dementia with Lewy bodies. It mimics the C-terminus region of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) and is formulated to elicit a specific, long-term, and sustained antibody response against α-syn oligomers without triggering an α-syn-specific T-cell response, thereby aiming to avoid autoimmune reactions. The induced antibodies cross into the central nervous system, recognize α-syn aggregates, and promote their clearance, leading to reduced accumulation of α-syn oligomers, amelioration of neurodegenerative pathology, and improvements in motor and memory deficits.
