Affitope AD01 is a synthetic peptide-based therapeutic vaccine developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is designed using AFFITOME technology to generate mimotopes—short peptides that mimic the N-terminal epitope of beta-amyloid (Aβ) but do not share sequence identity with it. This approach aims to induce an immune response specifically against Aβ, thereby reducing its accumulation in the brain while minimizing autoimmune risks associated with targeting native amyloid precursor protein (APP). The vaccine stimulates antibody production against Aβ without eliciting T-cell responses to self-proteins, enhancing safety. Affitope AD01 has completed phase 1 clinical trials evaluating its safety and tolerability in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease[1][3][4][5].
