Affitope AD03

Affitope AD03 is a synthetic peptide vaccine developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is designed to induce an immune response against beta amyloid (Aβ) by mimicking a specific epitope of the amyloid precursor protein (APP), thereby stimulating the immune system to generate antibodies that target and inhibit APP, which plays a central role in the formation of amyloid plaques characteristic of Alzheimer's pathology. The vaccine acts as both an APP inhibitor and immunostimulant. Affitope AD03 was initially developed by AFFiRiS AG, with GlaxoSmithKline (now GSK) as a collaborator during its development. Clinical trials reached phase I but were subsequently terminated, and there are no current active indications or ongoing development for this candidate[1][2][6].
