AFFITOPE PD01A

**AFFITOPE PD01A** is an investigational active immunotherapy vaccine developed by AFFiRiS for synucleinopathies, principally Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy. It comprises a synthetic eight-amino-acid peptide that mimics a C-terminal epitope of human alpha-synuclein, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin and adsorbed to aluminum hydroxide. The vaccine is intended to elicit antibodies preferentially recognizing pathological aggregated alpha-synuclein, thereby limiting aggregate propagation and supporting clearance while avoiding alpha-synuclein-directed autoreactive T-cell activation. AFFITOPE PD01A completed Phase 1 and booster studies in Parkinson's disease and Phase 1 evaluation in multiple system atrophy. It is the predecessor of AC Immune's optimized but distinct ACI-7104.056 formulation, which is being evaluated separately in Phase 2 Parkinson's disease studies.
