Drug intelligence / Profile preview
aflibercept + Restoret is a combination therapy under clinical investigation for retinal diseases, specifically neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME). Aflibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor, preventing abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina. Restoret (EYE103), developed by EyeBiotech, is a tetravalent, tri-specific antibody functioning as an agonist of the Wingless-related integration site (Wnt) signaling pathway. The combination aims to address unmet needs in exudative retinal diseases by targeting both VEGF-mediated angiogenesis and activating Wnt signaling to promote vascular stability and repair. Early-phase clinical data indicate that this combination is well-tolerated with promising improvements in visual acuity and retinal thickness[1][5].
