Aflibercept + resveratrol is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Aflibercept is an anti-VEGF recombinant fusion protein administered via intravitreal injection, acting as a decoy receptor to inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and thus suppress abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the retina. Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, commonly formulated as an oral dietary supplement. Clinical studies have evaluated the adjunctive use of daily oral resveratrol supplementation alongside standard intravitreal aflibercept injections. The combination has been associated with reduced frequency of required aflibercept injections and lower rates of progression to macular fibrosis compared to aflibercept monotherapy, while maintaining similar improvements in visual acuity and central foveal thickness[1][2][3]. The specific supplement used in these studies was Resvega, which contains 60 mg of resveratrol per day.
