Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aflibercept biosimilar (GBS-012) is a recombinant fusion protein being developed by Kidswell Bio (formerly Gene Techno Science) as a biosimilar to aflibercept for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases, particularly eye disorders. The drug acts as an inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and placental growth factor (PGF), thereby blocking angiogenesis and reducing abnormal blood vessel formation in the eye. It is currently in preclinical development for eye diseases[1][3][4].
