Overview

AFN0328 is an mRNA-based therapeutic vaccine developed by Hefei Afana Biotechnology for the treatment of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections and associated cervical high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). The vaccine utilizes mRNA technology to encode the E6 and E7 oncoproteins of high-risk HPV types, specifically HPV16 and HPV18, which are the primary drivers of cervical malignancy. Delivered via lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), the mRNA is translated in vivo to produce these viral antigens, thereby stimulating a robust, antigen-specific CD8+ T-cell response designed to recognize and eliminate HPV-infected cells and precancerous lesions. This therapeutic approach aims to provide a non-surgical alternative for clearing persistent HPV infections and reversing high-grade cervical lesions.
