Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AFN1213 is an mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Hefei Alphana Biotech for the prevention of herpes zoster (shingles). The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA technology to encode a specific antigen of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), typically the glycoprotein E (gE), to elicit a robust protective immune response. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China, specifically targeting adults aged 40 years and older. The clinical evaluation focuses on the safety, tolerability, and preliminary immunogenicity of a two-dose regimen administered intramuscularly at months 0 and 2.
