Overview

AFX-680 is a small molecule therapeutic candidate being developed by Afecta Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. It is designed to address the underlying pathophysiology of the disease by correcting intraocular metabolic dysregulation (dysmetabolosis) and inhibiting the activation of pro-inflammatory microglia. By targeting these pathways, AFX-680 aims to reduce the neurovascular damage associated with diabetic retinopathy. As of early 2024, the drug is in late-stage preclinical development.
