Ag-D-CIK is an investigational autologous adoptive immunotherapy that combines antigen-pulsed dendritic cells (DCs) with cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells. The therapy involves pulsing patient-derived dendritic cells with tumor lysate antigens to activate and expand CIK cells ex vivo. These activated CIK cells are then reinfused into the patient to target and kill tumor cells. The mechanism of action leverages both T-cell and natural killer (NK)-like properties of CIKs for MHC-unrestricted cytotoxicity against a broad range of cancer types. Dendritic cell activation enhances the proliferation, differentiation, and cytotoxic activity of CIKs specifically against tumor antigens while sparing normal tissues. Shenzhen Hornetcorn Biotechnology is developing this approach primarily for solid tumors[1][4]. Early studies suggest potential efficacy in retinoblastoma resistant to chemotherapy as well as other cancers[3][4].
