AG014

AG014 is an orally administered, live biotherapeutic product developed using the ActoBiotics platform by ActoGeniX. It consists of genetically engineered bacteria that express and deliver the anti-TNF-alpha antibody certolizumab directly to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract following oral capsule administration. The primary mechanism is local delivery of certolizumab at mucosal sites in the GI tract, aiming to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with reduced systemic exposure and side effects compared to injectable anti-TNF therapies. Phase 1 clinical trials demonstrated high safety, tolerability, and effective localized GI exposure in healthy volunteers[1][2].
