Overview

Agatolimod is a synthetic 24-mer oligonucleotide containing unmethylated CpG motifs, designed as an immunostimulatory agent. It acts as a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist, selectively targeting TLR9 to activate dendritic and B cells, thereby stimulating cytotoxic T cell and antibody responses against tumor antigens. Agatolimod has been investigated primarily for its potential antineoplastic and immunomodulatory effects in cancer therapy, but has also been studied for infectious diseases, allergies, and asthma. The drug was originally developed by Coley Pharmaceutical Group and later acquired by Pfizer[1][2][4][5][7].
