Overview

AGEM-102 is an engineered mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by AGeM Bio for the treatment of glioblastoma, sarcoma, and other solid tumors. Utilizing the proprietary TrafEn non-viral gene delivery platform, the MSCs are engineered to co-express cytosine deaminase (CDUPRT) and interferon-beta (IFN-β). The mechanism involves the local conversion of the prodrug 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) into the cytotoxic agent 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) within the tumor microenvironment, coupled with the immunomodulatory effects of IFN-β to enhance anti-tumor activity. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
