Aglandin retard

Aglandin retard is an oral extended-release medication containing tamsulosin hydrochloride, a selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist. Developed and marketed by G.L. Pharma, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). By selectively blocking alpha-1A receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, the drug facilitates the relaxation of smooth muscle, thereby improving urine flow and reducing obstructive and irritative symptoms such as hesitancy, weak stream, and urgency. The 'retard' formulation is designed for once-daily administration, providing a sustained release of the active ingredient to maintain therapeutic plasma levels throughout the day.
