Overview

AGLE-102 is a first-in-class investigational topical therapy composed of native extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from allogeneic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). These EVs contain active biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids—including COL7 protein and COL7A1 mRNA—that can stimulate the production of collagen type VII in recipient cells. The drug is designed to harness the regenerative, immunomodulatory, and anti-inflammatory properties of MSC-derived EVs to promote tissue repair and healing. Its primary indication is for the treatment of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB), particularly recessive DEB (RDEB), a rare pediatric skin blistering disease. Preclinical studies suggest that AGLE-102 can accelerate wound healing, reduce scarring, improve cosmesis, promote skin re-pigmentation and hair growth, and stimulate blood vessel and nerve regeneration. It is being developed by Aegle Therapeutics[1][2][4][5][6].
