Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AglyMax is a proprietary fermented soy isoflavone extract developed by Nichimo Co., Ltd. Unlike conventional soy extracts that primarily contain isoflavone glycosides, AglyMax is enriched with isoflavone aglycones—specifically daidzein, genistein, and glycitein—produced through a specialized fermentation process using *Aspergillus oryzae*. This fermentation improves the bioavailability of the isoflavones by removing the sugar moieties that otherwise hinder intestinal absorption. AglyMax is primarily investigated for its metabolic benefits, particularly its ability to improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in individuals with type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It also exhibits selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) activity, making it relevant for the management of menopausal symptoms and bone health. Additionally, the extract contains soy peptides produced during fermentation, which may contribute to its blood pressure-lowering and lipid-modulating effects.
