Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AGN-151586 + onabotulinumtoxina is an investigational combination of two botulinum neurotoxins: AGN-151586 (botulinum neurotoxin type E, BoNT/E) and onabotulinumtoxinA (botulinum neurotoxin type A, BoNT/A). Both agents act by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine at peripheral cholinergic nerve endings, leading to reversible neuromuscular blockade and muscle relaxation. AGN-151586 is currently being developed for the treatment of moderate to severe glabellar lines, offering a potentially faster onset of efficacy compared to BoNT/A. OnabotulinumtoxinA is an approved agent for the same indication and is the active ingredient in BOTOX and related brands. The combination is being studied for safety and efficacy when used sequentially or in combination for glabellar lines in adults[1][3][5].
