Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Agnurell is a homeopathic medicinal product developed and marketed by Sanorell Pharma. Its primary active ingredient is a homeopathic dilution (typically D2) of *Vitex agnus-castus*, commonly known as Chaste tree or Chasteberry. The product is indicated for the treatment of gynecological conditions, including menstrual cycle irregularities, mastodynia (breast pain and swelling), and premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The therapeutic effect of the *Vitex agnus-castus* extract is attributed to its dopaminergic activity; specific diterpenes within the plant act as agonists at dopamine D2 receptors in the anterior pituitary, which inhibits the secretion of prolactin. By lowering elevated prolactin levels, Agnurell helps to normalize the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle and alleviate symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances.
