Agomir-511-5p is a synthetic, chemically modified double-stranded microRNA (miRNA) mimic designed to replicate the biological activity of endogenous miR-511-5p. It is primarily utilized in preclinical research to investigate the tumor-suppressive roles of miR-511-5p. In lung squamous cell carcinoma (SQC), miR-511-5p has been identified as a regulator of angiogenesis by directly targeting the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A (VEGFA) mRNA, leading to its degradation or translational inhibition. The long noncoding RNA LINC00173.v1 can sequester miR-511-5p, thereby upregulating VEGFA and promoting tumor progression. Agomir-511-5p serves to counteract this effect by restoring miR-511-5p levels, making it a potential candidate for anti-angiogenic RNA therapy.
