Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Agrimoniae herba polysaccharides (AHP) are active polysaccharide components extracted from *Agrimonia eupatoria* (Agrimoniae Herba), a traditional medicinal herb widely used in East Asia for treating intestinal inflammation. Developed by researchers at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, AHP is being investigated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Preclinical studies demonstrate that AHP remodels the gut microbiota, specifically enriching the abundance of *Faecalibaculum rodentium*. This enrichment leads to increased production of the metabolite quinic acid (QA), which subsequently drives CD4+ T cell differentiation toward regulatory T cells (Tregs) via the USP1/TAZ/Foxp3 axis, thereby alleviating intestinal inflammation and restoring immune homeostasis.
