Agrostis stolonifera pollen is a biologic allergenic extract derived from the pollen of Agrostis stolonifera, commonly known as creeping bentgrass. Approved by the FDA in 1967 under BLA 101376, this extract is used for both the diagnosis of grass pollen hypersensitivity via skin testing and the treatment of allergic conditions through allergen immunotherapy. The therapeutic mechanism involves the induction of immunological tolerance, characterized by a shift from a Th2-mediated allergic response to a Th1-mediated or regulatory T-cell response, alongside the production of allergen-specific IgG4 blocking antibodies.
