AGS-v PLUS is a synthetic peptide vaccine designed to protect against multiple mosquito-borne diseases by targeting proteins found in mosquito saliva. It contains five synthetic peptides derived from the salivary glands of various mosquito species, including Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Anopheles gambiae, Anopheles darlingi, and Culex quinquefasciatus. The vaccine aims to induce an immune response that blocks the transmission of pathogens at the site of a mosquito bite by neutralizing key salivary proteins involved in facilitating infection. This approach could provide broad protection against diseases such as Zika virus infection, dengue fever, chikungunya fever, yellow fever, malaria, West Nile virus infection, and other arboviral diseases. Preclinical studies have shown that immunization with AGS-v PLUS can reduce viremia and morbidity associated with arboviral infections in animal models. Phase 1 clinical trials demonstrated that the vaccine is safe and elicits strong humoral (IgG) and cellular (IFN-γ) immune responses in healthy adults[1][4][5][6][7].
