AGT001

AGT001 is a recombinant human Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (rhACE2) protein therapeutic being developed by Angiotensin Therapeutics. It is designed to treat a variety of renal and cardiovascular diseases by modulating the renin-angiotensin system (RAS). ACE2 is a key enzyme that cleaves Angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor and pro-inflammatory peptide, into Angiotensin (1-7), which possesses vasodilatory, anti-fibrotic, and anti-inflammatory properties. By supplementing endogenous ACE2 levels, AGT001 aims to reduce the pathological effects of Angiotensin II overactivity and promote the protective effects of Angiotensin (1-7). The drug is currently being investigated for high-unmet-need indications including Diabetic Kidney Disease, Alport Syndrome, Scleroderma Kidney Crisis, and Acute Kidney Injury.
