AH-001 is a first-in-class, topically administered small molecule protein degrader developed by AnHorn Medicines for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). It operates via a novel mechanism of action as a selective protein degrader that targets and eliminates the androgen receptor (AR) protein in hair follicles. By recruiting E3 ubiquitin ligase to degrade AR, AH-001 reduces the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is implicated in hair loss. This approach differs from traditional AGA treatments that inhibit enzymes or stimulate follicles and aims to provide more effective and long-lasting results.
