Overview
**AHB-137 + pegylated interferon alfa-2b** is a combination drug regimen under investigation for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. **AHB-137** is an antisense oligonucleotide developed to reduce all hepatitis B viral RNA transcripts, which leads to suppression of viral protein production, inhibition of viral replication, and has immunomodulatory effects by lowering circulating viral antigen. **Pegylated interferon alfa-2b** is a pegylated recombinant cytokine used to stimulate host immune responses against hepatitis B virus. Combination therapy aims to leverage the direct antiviral action and immune restoration properties of AHB-137, along with the immunostimulatory and antiviral activity of pegylated interferon alfa-2b. The regimen is being evaluated in phase II clinical trials to assess synergistic or additive effects for achieving a functional cure of hepatitis B, particularly in HBeAg-negative patients already on nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy.
