Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ai Qikang capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Henan Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of asymptomatic HIV infection. It is utilized within a syndrome-differentiation framework, a core principle of TCM where specific formulations are matched to a patient's clinical presentation (TCM syndrome). In clinical trials, Ai Qikang has been evaluated for its potential to maintain or increase CD4+ T-lymphocyte counts, reduce viral load, and improve the quality of life in HIV-positive individuals who are in the early stages of infection and not yet receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). The formulation is designed to address specific TCM patterns, such as Qi and Blood deficiency, which are commonly identified in the early phases of HIV infection.
