Overview

AIDA (1-aminoindan-1,5-dicarboxylic acid) is a synthetic compound that acts as a selective antagonist of the metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 1 (mGluR1). It is primarily used in research settings to study the role of mGluR1 in neurophysiology and neuropharmacology. By blocking mGluR1 activity, AIDA helps elucidate the function of this receptor in synaptic transmission and neurological disorders. There are no known approved therapeutic indications for AIDA as a pharmaceutical drug; its use is limited to experimental and laboratory research[4].
