Aikeqing

**Aikeqing** is an orally administered multi-herb traditional Chinese medicine preparation formulated as a capsule and investigated as an adjunct to highly active antiretroviral therapy for HIV infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Its composition includes botanical constituents standardized analytically using icariin, polydatin, glycyrrhizic acid, and baicalin as marker compounds. No single direct molecular target or validated target-level mechanism has been established. In clinical studies it was evaluated for reducing HAART-associated toxicity and resistance-related concerns, while a SHIV89.6-infected Chinese rhesus macaque study reported reduced plasma viral load with early high-dose treatment.
