Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aikeqing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences for the management of HIV/AIDS. Administered as an oral capsule, it is primarily utilized as an adjuvant therapy alongside Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART). The drug is designed to enhance the efficacy of HAART by reducing drug-induced toxicity and side effects, improving patient adherence, and potentially lowering the rate of HIV-1 drug resistance. Clinical research, including trials registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR), has investigated its role in stabilizing CD4+ T-lymphocyte counts and improving the overall quality of life for HIV-infected individuals undergoing antiviral treatment.
