Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Ailamide** is a Japanese fixed-dose ophthalmic suspension containing brimonidine tartrate 0.1% and brinzolamide 1%. It is marketed for reducing elevated intraocular pressure in glaucoma and ocular hypertension when other glaucoma therapies provide insufficient control. Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that reduces aqueous-humor production and promotes uveoscleral outflow, while brinzolamide inhibits carbonic anhydrase II to reduce aqueous-humor secretion. The product was approved in Japan in March 2020 and launched in June 2020 by Senju Pharmaceutical with Otsuka Pharmaceutical as its alliance partner.
