aildenafil

Aildenafil is a synthetic small molecule drug belonging to the class of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. It is structurally related to sildenafil and vardenafil, and was developed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Like other PDE5 inhibitors, aildenafil works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5, leading to increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in smooth muscle cells. This results in relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and increased blood flow, particularly in the corpus cavernosum of the penis during sexual stimulation. Aildenafil has been studied primarily as an oral therapy for erectile dysfunction.
