Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ailento is an amino acid-based elemental diet (ED) used for enteral nutritional support, particularly in patients with impaired digestive or absorptive capacity. It is the brand name used in China for the product internationally known as Elental. The formulation consists of free amino acids as the nitrogen source, along with carbohydrates (dextrin), a minimal amount of fat (soybean oil), vitamins, and minerals. Because it contains no whole proteins and very little fat, it requires minimal digestion and is almost completely absorbed in the upper small intestine. In the context of gastric surgery, Ailento is used to provide early postoperative nutrition, promote gastrointestinal recovery, maintain nutritional status, and potentially reduce the incidence of complications such as anastomotic leakage or infection.
