Overview

Aimaimaitosai (Ruibosheng) is a human umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hUC-MSC) therapy developed by Platinumlife Biotech. It is the first mesenchymal stem cell product to receive regulatory approval in China, specifically indicated for the treatment of steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGVHD) in patients following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The therapy exerts its therapeutic effects through complex immunomodulatory mechanisms involving both direct cell-to-cell contact and the paracrine secretion of anti-inflammatory factors such as prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO). These actions lead to the induction and expansion of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and Th2 anti-inflammatory cells, while simultaneously suppressing the proliferation and activity of Th1 cells and B-cells, thereby restoring immune homeostasis and reducing the systemic inflammation associated with aGVHD.
