**Aimpila** is an investigational targeted antineoplastic non-covalent complex of alpha-fetoprotein and the apoptosis-inducing glycoside atractyloside. Alpha-fetoprotein serves as a carrier intended to bind alpha-fetoprotein receptors on cancer cells, termed RECAF, enabling preferential uptake by receptor-expressing tumors; atractyloside inhibits mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase, disrupting mitochondrial nucleotide exchange and promoting cytotoxicity and apoptosis. Preclinical xenograft studies reported activity correlated with tumor RECAF expression in T47D breast, HepG2 hepatocellular, and SW620 colorectal cancer models. The product has been evaluated as an oral capsule in a small pilot study in metastatic colorectal cancer, but no regulatory approval or registered development phase was identified.
